The Benefits of Binaural Tones,
Binaural Beats and Isochronic Tones
If you've made it here, you must be
wondering about the *real* benefits
of binaural tones and isochronic tones. This is normal, as
claims are often made that appear too good to be
true.
Some
marketers insist that the benefits are
far-reaching enough to
impact on almost every area of your life - health, happiness,
personality, and even intelligence(!)
So... how do you cut through the
marketing hype?
Being incredibly sceptical before using binaural tones and other forms
of Brain
Wave Entrainment (BWE), I conducted a huge amount of
research before handing over
any money. After being blown away by my initial results, I continued
my research efforts over three years.
This article is designed to be a no-hype look at the exceptional benefits that are
available from using isochronic and binaural tones. Here's what I have found:
Well Being
One of the most
noticeable benefits of binaural tones is
the impact on
your sense of self and well-being. Users report feeling positive
and
happy after each 20-30 minute session, and self-esteem and
motivation
go up too.
When
you use binaural beats you will likely experience
powerful
positive emotions and feelings including excitement,
peace, happiness,
euphoria & joy.
These occur without any real effort on your part, and
tend
to alternate with every session. You'll definitely "feel better" after
each session.
Many users also report that other people (strangers, friends and
colleagues) tend to respond in a
friendlier way after using binaural tones.
If you
believe that "you attract into your life what you put out", then you
will
be pleased to know that you'll definitely be sending out
"better vibes"
after each session. People will just "know" that you are in a positive,
resourceful mood, and will react accordingly.
Relaxation
Another of the key benefits of binaural tones is the
effect on your peace
of mind. Not only will you feel deeply
relaxed when using
the technology, but afterwards you will feel calm, peaceful and
content.
This is most likely to do with the fact that you are
giving
your brain a well-deserved
break and effectively sending it to sleep
for a while. The effects are very similar to those reported by meditators.
Clinical studies have found that binaural beats help to decrease mild
anxiety too, and increase alertness
and focus. (NB - if you suffer from
anxiety, or any other medical condition mentioned below, PLEASE do your
own research and consult your Doctor too. This is NOT intended to be
medical advice. Thanks!)
Effects on the Body
Many scientific and clinical trials have been carried
out into the
benefits of binaural tones on the body - have a look for yourself in Binaural Beat Research.
These studies provide some of
the most powerful
proof that brainwave entrainment (BWE) really works.
For a
start, when you use binaural beats or meditation machines your endorphin
release goes up, as does the production of serotonin.
These
are the "happy
hormones" that your body releases when you work out at
the gym, have fun with friends, have sex, or fall
in love. Needless to
say, this feels rather nice!
Another of the benefits of binaural beats is that your body will step
up its catecholamines production (a hormone strongly associated
with improved
memory).
If you study for a test when using binaural tones, or
attempt to learn something about a new topic, you'll notice that it's much
easier to retain and understand information when using this
technology. I believe this is because the brain "quietens down",
allowing you to
relax and focus more.
Your cortisol
production will also be lowered. This is a "bad hormone",
produced by the adrenal glands when you feel stressed or angry, which
makes your blood pressure and blood sugar levels rise. Inevitably,
cortisol has been shown to have a negative effect on learning and
memory and well-being.
Combining the impact of binaural beats' increased release of
catecholamines (above) and lower levels of cortisol, it's little
surprise that studies have shown that BWE has a positive impact
on
memory and learning.

Another of the benefits of binaural tones on the body is an increase in
DHEA. This hormone comes from the adrenal glands too, but this
is a "good hormone".
Scientists say that DHEA is used as a "source
ingredient" for virtually every hormone the body needs, and is
reported
to reduce the impact of disease and ageing.
Additionally, a high level
of DHEA is likely to result in a vibrant and
healthy body, and a strong
immune system. A study has shown that using binaural beats increases
your DHEA production levels by an average of 47% (although this
particular test admittedly used a small sample group).
Finally, using the same small control group, users of binaural beats
for just four days saw an average 98%
increase in melatonin production.
Melatonin is the chemical your body makes when you go into a deep,
natural sleep. As such, one of the key benefits of binaural
tones is
that you will sleep much better and feel more rested after using them.
Intelligence
Studies have been carried out into the effects of
binaural tones on intelligence and the mind.
Several different
trials have shown that the benefits of binaural tones
include increased
memory (as mentioned above), increases in IQ,
improved ability to learn and remember words from a second language,
increased levels of creativity,
and improved Brainwave Synchronization.
I'm not going to
suggest that binaural beats turn you into a genius
overnight, but with practice and an open mind, I'd be surprised if you
didn't think that "more was staying in" that old brain of yours.
I've definitely experienced breakthroughs in this
regard. For example, when I read a book on a new topic I feel I retain
*much* more of the information, quicker. Also, I feel as if my business
ideas have better credibility now too.
Health and Illnesses
Again I'm wary of promising too much here, but these
benefits of
binaural tones come from clinical trials carried out over the past
twenty years.
Supposedly, BWE technology is proven to help with:
- headache and
migraine pain (I can testify to this - I can't remember
having a headache in years)
- can help women with symptoms of PMS
- has
been shown to help with drug and alcohol
addictions (compared to
control groups)
- and has helped people with learning
difficulties
resulting from ADHD and dyslexia.
First
hand, I can say that binaural beats are an unbeatable
hangover cure too ;)
Finally, there is some proof that people suffering from depression
have
a lessening
of symptoms by using binaural tones. I can say from
first-hand experience that my own symptoms of depression have all but
vanished - but please go see a Doctor if you feel clinically depressed.
Effort and Skill
The final benefits of binaural tones I will review are
not related to
physical or mental benefits, but are more to do with the lack of effort
or skill needed to get results.
All you have to do is put some headphones in, sit back and relax. BWE works
whether you want it to or not, as the beats communicate directly
with your brain.
You don't need to consciously do anything.

Because you can buy binaural tones as inexpensive MP3 downloads now,
you can load them on to your iPod and listen to them
anywhere -
commuting, on a plane, on your lunch break; whenever you get 20 minutes
free. (Just don't use them when flying airplanes, driving or operating
heavy
machinery!)
Friends of mine report transforming a previously "horrible commute"
into a peaceful,
relaxing experience by using BWE. Again, you do not
need to think in a certain way or do anything; all you need to do is relax
and let the beats do their work.
Binaural tones - truly the lazy person's way
to inner peace!!

Final Thoughts
I hope I've persuaded you to give brainwave entrainment
technology a
try. As I'm sure you can tell, I'm incredibly
passionate about the
benefits of binaural tones and beats. I reckon you'll love them
too.
**Warning! Please do NOT
panic if you don't experience all
of these amazing
results on
your first attempt **
Please note that it takes a
little while for your brain to relax and gain all the benefits. Like
any new skill, there's a certain amount of trial and error involved -
however I'm sure you'll be experiencing many benefits within a couple
of sessions.
You may even feel a bit weird at first (the sounds are a little
unusual), but after a while you'll begin to deeply relax and feel calm
and positive. You can read more here with The Effects of Binaural Beats.
The
benefits of binaural tones improve with time. The more you use
them, the more likely you are to see big improvements in your health
and well-being.
